Erratum – 31 March 2011
2006 Census: QuickStats About Housing – an error was found in table 2, entitled, 'Occupied Dwelling Type, 1996–2006 Censuses', with a small number of records coded to the wrong categories for 2001. The affected categories are: 'Institution' and 'Occupied Non-private Dwelling Not Further Defined'. The subcategories within 'Occupied Private Dwelling' and 'Occupied Non-private Dwelling' have also been reordered.
All other data, graphs and information in this release are unaffected. Statistics New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.
The table below, 'Occupied Dwelling Type, 1996–2006 Censuses', was revised on 31 March 2011 and replaces the previous table published 2 May 2007.

2006 Census: QuickStats About Housing – an error was found in the table entitled, 'Sector of Landlord, 1996–2006 Censuses', with some of the figures placed in the wrong categories for 1996.
The affected categories are: local authority or city council; Housing New Zealand Corporation; and other state owned corporation, or state owned enterprise, or government department or ministry. The error was found both in the commentary and in table 26.
The table below replaces the previous tables published 2 May 2007.
