Business demographic data for the year ended February 2013 showed that:

  • There were 6,446 business locations (geographic units) in Tasman Region compared with 507,908 for all of New Zealand. This is an increase of 3.4 percent from the year ended February 2006 for Tasman Region.
  • There were 18,940 paid employees in Tasman Region compared with 1,941,040 for all New Zealand. This is an increase of 3.4 percent from the year ended February 2006 for Tasman Region.
