Business demographics
Business demographic data for the year ended February 2013 showed that:
- There were 64,849 business locations (geographic units) in Canterbury Region compared with 507,908 for all of New Zealand. This is an increase of 4.5 percent from the year ended February 2006 for Canterbury Region.
- There were 262,140 paid employees in Canterbury Region compared with 1,941,040 for all New Zealand. This is an increase of 3.3 percent from the year ended February 2006 for Canterbury Region.
