Auckland Council tables
The ‘Available files’ section of this page contains tables about people and dwellings in the jurisdiction of the Auckland Council and its wards and local boards. Following the publication of these tables Te Irirangi Local Board and Te Irirangi Ward had their names changed to Howick Local Board and Howick Ward respectively. The tables were updated with these changes in December 2010.
In November 2010, local government arrangements in the Auckland region changed. The previous Auckland Regional Council and seven territorial authorities, Auckland City Council, Manukau City Council, North Shore City Council, Papakura District Council, Rodney District Council, Waitakere City Council, and Franklin District Council were amalgamated into one governing body called the Auckland Council.
For more information on these changes, visit the Local Government Commission website.
The Auckland Council tables include information about:
- age and sex
- cultural diversity
- cigarette smoking status
- marital status
- number of children born alive
- education
- work
- income
- families and households
- access to telephones, Internet, and fax.
The 2006 meshblocks have been fitted to the Auckland Council boundaries using a 'best-fit' methodology. Data produced by other methods may differ.
The Auckland Regional Council has a complementary dataset on its website with additional household and dwelling variables, based on earlier boundaries. The different methodologies used for fitting the 2006 meshblocks to the new Auckland boundaries mean that there are minor differences between the datasets; we ask users to note this.
