Review of Annual Financial Statistics
The Annual Enterprise Survey (AES) was last redeveloped in 1998, largely to meet requirements for National Accounting purposes. We recently began a review of the survey against current and future user needs. As part of this investigation we will be looking at methods of improving the quality of the data and the potential to reduce respondent load.
Previous consultations with users have identified a demand for the following:
- the ability to measure the performance of sub-populations of interest, for example the tourist industry and regional estimates
- longitudinal microdata analysis of financial data
- data integration with other Statistics New Zealand datasets such as Balance of Payments
- a sample design that supports the measurement of financial position data by industry.
If you wish to provide feedback on this review, please contact info@stats.govt.nz.
