Statement of Intent 2008 The Statement of Intent details:
- the outcomes that Statistics New Zealand aims to achieve for itself and for the Official Statistics System in the medium- to long-term
- the actions that will be taken to achieve those outcomes
- the performance objectives set for our activities.
Note: financial information formally held in the Statement of Intent is now contained in the Estimates, with only capital investment identified in the current Statement of Intent

The Government Statistician presented this report to the Minister of Statistics on the work of the organisation during the 2006/2007 financial year for the minister to present to Parliament.

"Statistics New Zealand's Strategic Directions 2002 and Beyond" sets out the medium- to long-term directions for Statistics New Zealand.
It also discusses official statistics – what they are, their importance, who provides them and Statistics New Zealand's role within the overall system of official statistics. This plan provided the platform for the development of Statistics New Zealand's 2003 Statement of Intent.
