What it's about
Demographic Trends 2000 contains the latest statistics on New Zealand's changing population. Graphs and tables enhance the commentaries, which divide demographic change into nine topics. Population change and structure is examined along with migration trends. The hard facts are presented on fertility, mortality, marriage, divorce and abortion. National and subnational population estimates and projections are also included. Part 10 contains a short note on the forthcoming 2001 Census of Population and Dwellings.
Note: Table 1.02 was revised on 16 February 2001. The Māori population in Part A of the table, from 1926 onwards, now refers to 'Māori ethnic group'. Previously it contained 'Sole Māori' figures.
