Erratum
Table 1.03 (p17–8) of this publication has been amended. An updated version of the table can be viewed here. Figures for 1991 were incorrectly included under 'estimated de facto population'; these have now been included under 'estimated resident population' in the downloadable excel table.
This amendment was made on 6 August 2008. Statistics New Zealand regrets any inconvenience this may have caused.
What it's about
Demographic Trends: 2007 includes information on population change and structure, fertility, marriage, divorce, mortality, external migration, subnational populations, induced abortions, and national and subnational demographic projections of the New Zealand population. A special article entitled ‘Busy making other plans: childlessness in New Zealand’ uses 2006 Census data on children never born to examine the rise of voluntary childlessness in New Zealand. A full report will be released later in 2008
