In March 2012 compared with February 2012:
- Food prices fell 1.0 percent.
- Fruit and vegetable prices fell 4.2 percent.
- Meat, poultry, and fish prices fell 1.8 percent.
- Grocery food prices fell 0.3 percent.
- Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices fell 0.2 percent.
- Non-alcoholic beverage prices fell 0.1 percent.
The last time that all five subgroups fell was in October 2009.
From March 2011 to March 2012:
- Food prices increased 0.2 percent.
