Wages/salaries and investments drive increase in income
Highlights
Average weekly income from all sources for the 2007 June quarter:
was $667, up 9.4 percent from the June 2006 quarter.
was up 10.4 percent for males (to $832) and up 7.8 percent for females (to $510), from the June 2006 quarter.
rose by 22.4 percent for the 60- to 64-year-old age group, while the 20- to 24-year-old age group decreased by 2.7 percent.
Thirty-eight percent of people received investment income, the highest proportion of any June quarter between 2002 and 2007.
For those receiving investment income, the average weekly income from investment was $137, up 29.1 percent from the previous quarter.
