Statistics NZ produces several income and wage measures, which are used by government, unions, employers, researchers, journalists, and individuals.
Each of these measures is useful for different purposes. However, the sheer number, and at times incomparability, of our wage and income measures can cause confusion.
User guide for Statistics New Zealand’s wage and income measures clarifies which questions or situations each measure is best applied to, as well as the measure’s design and purpose.
See the flowchart to help you decide which wage or income measure to use.
