Consents for new houses down in July
Highlights
The seasonally adjusted number of new dwelling units authorised, excluding apartments, fell 5.3 percent.
The trend for the number of new dwellings authorised, excluding apartments, appears to have reached a turning point and has fallen in recent months.
1,270 new dwellings were authorised, excluding apartments.
203 new apartment units were authorised, and over half of these were for retirement units.
For July 2010 compared with July 2009, the value of residential building consents rose $48 million (11 percent) and the value of non-residential building consents fell $78 million (21 percent).
