More information about the Retail Trade Survey deflators
The section on Changes to the Retail Trade Survey deflators now correctly states that the September 2011 quarter Retail Trade Survey deflators were calculated using updated weights, following the Consumers price index review: 2011. It replaces text that mistakenly said they were calculated using the 2008 Consumers Price Index Review, including household spending patterns, by industry, that were reported in the 2006/07 Household Economic Survey.
A new table has been added, with details of these new weights. See table 15, Retail trade survey deflator weights, by industry, at June 2011 quarter, in the Tables section.
There is no change to the data released on 14 November 2011.
The updated weights, which were used for Retail Trade Survey: September 2011 quarter, are based mainly on household spending patterns, by industry, collected in the 2009/10 Household Economic Survey. The previous weights were based on the 2006/07 survey. The weights in table 15 are at the June 2011 quarter.
