Key facts

For October 2016, compared with October 2015:

  • National guest nights were up 6.0 percent.
  • Domestic guest nights were down 0.6 percent, while international guest nights were up 17.0 percent.
  • North Island guest nights were up 6.5 percent, and South Island guest nights were up 5.3 percent.
  • Eleven of the 12 regional areas had more guest nights.
  • All four accommodation types had more guest nights.

For the year ended October 2016, national guest nights were up 6.5 percent from the October 2015 year.

 

 

The trend for national guest nights continued to rise in October 2016. Seasonally adjusted guest nights fell 0.6 percent, after a 1.3 percent rise in September.
