Guest nights down in the North, up in the South
Highlights
Compared with August 2008:
Total guest nights were almost unchanged.
Both domestic and international guest nights were almost unchanged.
North Island guest nights were down 3 percent and South Island guest nights were up 4 percent.
Seven of the 12 regions had more guest nights, with Otago recording the largest increase.
Four of the five accommodation types had more guest nights, led by motels.
