Wine and Spirits Lift as Beer and Cigarettes Fall

Highlights

  • The volume of spirits and spirit-based drinks available for consumption increased 9.4 percent in the December 2004 year, compared with the December 2003 year.
  • The volume of wine available for consumption increased 5.9 percent in the December 2004 year.
  • The volume of beer available for consumption fell 0.2 percent in the December 2004 year.
 
  • The total volume of alcoholic beverage available for consumption increased 1.9 percent in the December 2004 year.
  • The total volume of pure alcohol available for consumption rose 4.5 percent in the December 2004 year.
  • Cigarettes available for consumption fell 2.0 percent in the December 2004 year.
