Digital animation drives industry growth

Highlights

  • The New Zealand screen industry recorded gross revenue of $2,806 million in 2009, a 3 percent increase from the previous year. 
  • The number of businesses in the screen industry increased by 20 percent to 2,673. 
  • Growth in the industry was driven by a 51 percent increase in post-production revenue, which reached $483 million. 
  • Digital graphics, animation, or effects accounted for 75 percent of total post-production revenue in 2009, or $362 million.
