September 2011 quarter:

Values are seasonally adjusted and compared with the June 2011 quarter unless otherwise stated.

  • Exports decreased 3.0 percent to $11.8 billion.
  • The trend for exports remains at a high level.
  • Imports fell 3.2 percent to $11.4 billion.
  • There was a trade surplus of $340 million (2.9 percent of exports).

September 2011 month:

Values are actual and compared with the September 2010 month unless otherwise stated.

  • Exports were up $268 million (8.4 percent) to $3.4 billion.
  • Meat and edible offal exports recorded the largest increase.
  • Imports were up $564 million (16 percent) to $4.2 billion.
  • There was a trade deficit of $751 million (22 percent of exports).
