Media release –
Half of pre-schoolers in formal early childhood education
Highlights
53.9 percent of pre-school children attended formal early childhood education (ECE) and care and 44.1 percent attended informal care.
8.8 percent of school children aged 5–13 years attended formal out-of-school services (OSS) and care and 39.6 percent attended informal care.
80.9 percent of children aged 3–5 years who were attending formal ECE used '20 Hours ECE'.
17.0 percent of employed parents had used at least one work arrangement in the previous week to help care for a child.
