In April 2012 compared with April 2011:
- Visitor arrivals (195,700) were down 2,100. The biggest changes were in arrivals from:
- China (up 7,900)
- Japan (up 1,900)
- the United Kingdom (down 5,900)
- Australia (down 6,800).
- Overseas trips by New Zealand residents (183,200) were up 700. The biggest changes were in departures to:
- the United States (up 2,500)
- Australia (up 2,200)
- Japan (up 1,400).
In April 2012:
- Seasonally adjusted figures showed a net loss of 800 migrants.
