International Travel and Migration: May 2012

In May 2012 compared with May 2011:

• Visitor arrivals (140,800) were up 100. The biggest changes were in arrivals from:
  • China (up 4,400) 
  • the United Kingdom (down 1,400)
  • Australia (down 2,000).
• Overseas trips by New Zealand residents (179,300) were down 2,500. The biggest changes were in departures to:
  • the United States (up 1,300)
  • Samoa (up 1,000)
  • Singapore (down 1,000).

In May 2012:

• Seasonally adjusted figures showed a net gain of 200 migrants.
