Holiday timing affects travel
Highlights
Visitor arrivals (142,400) were down 2 percent from June 2007 (145,500).
There were more visitors from Australia (up 1,200), but fewer from the United States (down 1,800), China (down 1,600) and Korea (down 1,300).
New Zealand resident departures (186,000) were down 11 percent from June 2007 (208,300).
There were fewer trips by New Zealand residents to Australia (down 12,900) and the United Kingdom (down 1,600).
Permanent and long-term arrivals exceeded departures by 500 on a seasonally adjusted basis.
