Highlights
Visitor arrivals (226,500) were down 10 percent from March 2008 (250,800).
There were fewer visitors from the United Kingdom (down 9,400), the United States (down 5,100), Australia (down 4,300), Japan (down 1,400) and Korea (down 1,300).
New Zealand-resident departures (126,700) were down 6 percent from March 2008 (134,800).
New Zealand residents departed on fewer trips to Fiji (down 2,000) and Australia (down 1,700).
Permanent and long-term arrivals exceeded departures by 1,700 on a seasonally adjusted basis
