Suitable indication of future population change from 2006-base subnational population projections (published October 2012): Advice to users

Statistics NZ's latest subnational population projections were released in late 2012. These included projections for regional council areas, territorial authority areas, and Auckland local board areas. New 2013-base projections for these areas will be released on 19 February 2015.

Revised population estimates at 30 June 2013 were released on 14 August 2014, based on results from the 2013 Census of Population and Dwellings and 2013 Post-enumeration Survey.

Given these recent results, the downloadable Excel table offers some advice on the suitability of the latest projections as an indication of total population change in the short and long term.

Download or print the table from ‘Available files’ above. If you have problems viewing the file, see opening files and PDFs.
