What It's About
Demographic Trends 2002 contains the latest statistics on New Zealand's population and related statistics. Published annually, it carries commentaries, diagrams and tables on the major demographic indicators of the New Zealand population. Topics covered include population change and structure, fertility, marriage, divorce, mortality, external migration, subnational populations, induced abortions, and national and subnational demographic projections.
Part 10 contains a note on results from the 2001 Post-enumeration Survey, the 2001-based population estimates and projections that have recently become available, and the different population measures produced by Statistics New Zealand. Part 11 carries a list of articles on population related subjects published in Key Statistics and available on the Statistics New Zealand website, with a link to each for easy access. New additions to this issue of Demographic Trends include induced abortions by age and ethnicity, and data on known pregnancies, pregnancy rates and crude abortion ratios by age of woman.
"Demographic Trends 2002" is divided into 11 parts, each covering a different topic. For example, Part 1 looks at population change, Part 2, fertility, etc.
Each topic covered in "Demographic Trends 2002" includes a series of detailed tables. Part 1 "Population Change and Structure" has eight tables (Tables 1.01 - 1.08), Part 2, "Fertility" has 15 tables (Tables 2.01 - 2.15), etc.
