Perceived corruption

Why is this important for social statistics?

Corruption undermines democracy and the law, and threatens domestic and international security. It has adverse social and economic consequences for a country and its citizens.

This indicator measures the perceived level of corruption – defined as ‘the abuse of public office for private gain’ – on a scale of 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (highly clean).
