Balance of payments

New Zealand's balance of payments (BOP) statements record the value of New Zealand's transactions in goods, services, income and transfers with the rest of the world. They also record the changes in New Zealand's financial assets and liabilities in relation to the rest of the world.

International investment position (IIP) statistics show, at a particular point in time, the stock of New Zealand's international financial assets and liabilities.

Revisions to the frequency and coverage of the BOP and IIP statistics were made in 2001.

A new quarterly series is available from June 2000, replacing the  previous annual series. A new March year annual series was started in 2001, incorporating the revisions.
