Social themes

This selection of datasets cover a range of social themes.

The Abortions dataset records the number and rate of induced abotions performed annually.

The Childcare dataset records information from the one-off 1998 childcare survey about early childhood education and care.

The Gaming dataset records data from a one-off gambling survey in 1999 about participation in gambling and gaming, and the prevalence of problem gambling.

The Household economic statistics dataset records information about household income and expenditure gathered in a three-yearly survey.

The Household savings dataset records data about people's assets and debts, gathered in 1999 in a one-off household savings survey.

The Social welfare benefits and payments dataset provides the number of benefits paid by the Department of Social Welfare and their cost. The department was restructured in the late 1990s and no longer exists.

The Survey of family, income and employment dataset records information about families' and individuals' income levels, income sources and income changes. It is gathered annually in a longitudinal study started in 2003.
