The quarterly International Visitors Survey provides information about the characteristics, behaviour and expenditure of overseas visitors to New Zealand.
Those surveyed are departing overseas visitors aged 15 and over who have been in New Zealand for less than 12 months.
Information collected includes length of stay, purpose of visit, type of accommodation used, types of transport used, places visited, activities undertaken, attractions visited, and total expenditure for the visit.
The survey is commissioned by the Ministry of Tourism and run by a market research company.
