Time Use

Information Releases | Publications | Classifications and Standards | Related Information

Time use surveys provide information on what people do with their time, what proportion of time is spent on economically productive activities, leisure pursuits and personal care. They are a method of recording who is doing work in the formal and informal sectors. Time use surveys can also collect information on who respondents are doing these activities for, and where they are doing them.

The first time use survey for New Zealand was completed in August 1999 and the first results from this survey were released in December 1999.
