Rapid advances in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) have led to a significant increase in the adoption of technology and related services by households, individuals, businesses, educational establishments, and the government. ICT statistics help people understand how these technological developments have been embraced, and where and why they are being used.

The statistical standard for ICT outlines how Statistics New Zealand aligns with international standards in measuring progress towards the information society, by showing how we report on international indicators, including the core ICT indicators developed by the Partnership on Measuring ICT for Development and the key ICT indicators from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The standard will be regularly reviewed to ensure it still meets international standards and user needs.
