Accommodation Survey historical data now reflects two sets of changes. The first change, made in November 2007, was the simplifying of the ‘origin of guest’ data to an international-domestic split. The second, to be implemented in the 11 November release of the September 2009 monthly data, comprises the following:
1. Removal of the ‘hosted’ accommodation group from the survey. Some of the larger ‘hosted’ establishments have been retained in the survey and re-classified to other categories.
2. Re-alignment of the Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) areas from the 1996 base to the present boundary structure. This will have minimal impact on the Regional Council data.
As a result, the Accommodation Survey data series have been changed as below.
