Electoral populations

On 3 May 2007, the Representation Commission released the proposed general and Māori electoral district boundaries. These boundaries are based on electoral populations calculated from the results of the 2006 Census of Population and Dwellings and the 2006 Māori Electoral Option.

Table 1, in the attached file, shows general electoral populations by proposed electoral district, and table 2 shows Māori electoral populations by proposed electoral district. Table 3 contains indicative general and Māori electoral population counts at the meshblock level. The corresponding area unit, territorial authority, regional council, and proposed general and Māori electoral district codes are also supplied for each meshblock. The descriptions for the area unit, territorial authority, regional council and proposed Māori and general electoral districts are included in tables 4.01 to 4.05.

Further information about the proposed electoral boundaries is available on the Representation Commission website.
