Highlights


  • The estimated resident population of New Zealand was 4.26 million at 31 March 2008.

 

  • Population growth was 40,200 (1.0 percent) during the March 2008 year.

 

  • Natural increase and net migration contributed 35,500 and 4,700, respectively, during the March 2008 year.

 

  • The median ages for males and females were 35.4 and 37.1 years, respectively, at 31 March 2008.
