Highlights


  • Average annual labour productivity grew 1.3 percent over the 2000–08 period, compared with annual growth of 2.0 percent from 1978–2008.

 

  • Average annual capital productivity fell 0.4 percent over the 2000–08 period, compared with an annual fall of 0.5 percent from 1978–2008.
  • Average annual multifactor productivity grew 0.6 percent over the 2000–08 period, compared with growth of 1.1 percent from 1978-2008.

 

  • New in this release is a composition-adjusted productivity series, which accounts for differences in the skill composition of workers. From 1998–2008 composition-adjusted labour productivity averaged 1.2 percent growth annually.
