The User Guides section provides businesses with information on various economic measures. The information provided is freely available for general use and the downloadable files are listed below. Statistics New Zealand should acknowledged as the source when this information is being quoted.
'A Guide to Good Survery Designs' deals with undertaking, designing, managing and processing a survey.'Business Helper' introduces the range of information available from Statistics New Zealand. 'Contract Indexation' provides information on the price indexes. It provides general guidelines for such parties relating to the use of each index in their commercial contracts, including information on index quality, revisions, discontinuities and rebasing.
'Indicator Guidelines' give generic criteria and definitions to aid in the selection and development of indicators. Two online resources about 'Inflation and the Consumers Price Index (CPI)' explain the effect of price increases on household spending, and how this can be measured using the CPI. The 'Producers Price Index (PPI)' provides a comprehensive overview and description of the historical development of the index and recent redevelopments.
