Olympic visitors activity

Spectators flew to Athens from all over the world to watch the Olympic Games. Nearly two million tickets were sold for the games. Of these, 800,000 were just for the soccer games and another 200,000 tickets were snapped up for the beach volleyball. Source: http://www.athens2004.com

Statistics New Zealand keeps track of the countries our travellers visit. It’s almost certain that more people will travel to Greece this year than in the past. Around 150 of these travellers will be our Olympic athletes and their support people like coaches, managers and doctors who will travel with them.

Activity

Here is a table showing the host countries of the modern Olympics that New Zealanders have travelled to in the last decade. When people leave New Zealand perhaps for a holiday or to visit friends, they complete a departure card. Statistics New Zealand uses the information on the arrival and departure cards to look at the number of people coming and going.
