2001 Census of Population and Dwellings doesn’t tell us about our favourite subjects at school but we can find out about the type of jobs most people work in.

• The most common occupation in 2001 was sales assistant, with 85,530 people.
• The least common occupation in 2001 was paste up artist, with 6 people.
• In 2001, there were 27,522 primary school teachers and 18,528 secondary school teachers.
