Background
The August 2004 edition of the schools' newsletter, StatZing! has activities with an Olympic Games theme. The website activities listed above, link with the activities in StatZing!

The activity Olympic visitors looks at New Zealand residents leaving to go overseas for a short time (less than 12 months). They may visit more than one country but the table shows the country they will spend most of their time in while travelling overseas. The activity asks students to compare the number of overseas visitors to Olympic destinations over the years. Use the migration page on the Statistics New Zealand website to find out more.

Be a sport activity looks at your students chances of making the Olympic team one day. The activity uses information collected from the 2001 Census to find out how may children live in your area.

The activity Active kids uses information from the CensusAtSchool survey and asks your students to collect information on sports participation by students in their class.
