Your own census at school

1. Reasons:
  • cell phones became less expensive and people could get all sorts of special call deals;
  • text messaging has become very popular;
  • more areas are now able to get cell phone coverage;
  • more parents thought there were safety advantages in their children;
  • having cell phones;
  • small cell phones have become very trendy;
  • advertising campaigns aimed at young people have worked.

2. Canadians were asked who owned a cell phone while Australians were asked who had access to one. More people would have access to one because they could use their mum’s dad’s or even a friend's. That’s probably why the two figures are so different.


 

People Power

1. More than half. That’s still a lot of cars on the road but not quite as many as three-quarters which would be 400,389.
2. The town planners could link parks and suburbs to tracks for biking, walking and jogging. They could even link these tracks to bus and train stations where their could be showers!
