In February 2005:
- Consents were issued for 2,145 new dwelling units.
- Apartment units accounted for 15 percent of new dwelling units.
- The total value of consents issued for non-residential buildings was $316 million.
- The total value of consents issued for all buildings was $861 million.

- Residential consents contributed 63 percent of the total value of all buildings, compared with 72 percent in February 2004.
- The trend for the value of non-residential buildings has increased 25 percent since February 2004.
