Highlights


  • All building consents total $756 million, $149 million (16 percent) lower than in July 2004.

 

  • Residential building consents total $493 million, $74 million (13 percent) lower than in July 2004.

 

  • Non-residential building consents total $263 million, $75 million (22 percent) lower than in July 2004.                               
  • The trend value for all building consents is down 16 percent from the recent high point of February 2005.

 

  • Consents for 1,992 new dwelling units were issued, 362 (15 percent) lower than in July 2004.

 

  • Offices and administration buildings accounted for half the drop in non-residential building consent values, compared with July 2004.
