Highlights


  • Food prices rose 1.1 percent from February 2006 to March 2006. 

 

  • Fruit and vegetable prices rose 7.4 percent, driven by higher prices for fresh fruit and vegetables.

 

  • Grocery food, soft drinks and confectionery prices rose 0.9 percent.

 

  • Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices rose 0.2 percent.

 

  • Meat, fish and poultry prices fell 0.4 percent.

 

  • Food prices rose 1.8 percent for the year to March 2006.
