Highlights


  • Food prices rose 0.5 percent from April 2006 to May 2006.

 

  • Fruit and vegetable prices rose 4.3 percent, driven by higher prices for fresh vegetables.

 

  • Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices rose 0.2 percent.

 

  • Grocery food, soft drinks and confectionery prices recorded no overall change.

 

  • Meat, fish and poultry prices decreased 0.6 percent.

 

  • Food prices rose 1.8 percent for the year to May 2006.
