Highlights


  • Food prices rose 1.0 percent from May 2006 to June 2006.

 

  • Fruit and vegetable prices increased 6.3 percent, driven by higher prices for fresh vegetables.

 

  • Meat, fish and poultry prices rose 1.3 percent.

 

  • Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices rose 0.3 percent.

 

  • Grocery food, soft drinks and confectionery prices recorded no overall change.

 

  • Food prices rose 2.9 percent for the year to June 2006.

 

  • This is the final release of the June 1999 (=1000) series. The July 2006 Food Price Index will be published on a base of June 2006 (=1000).
