In November 2006:
- Consents were issued for 2,232 new dwellings, compared with 2,295 in November 2005.
- The number of new dwellings was 2.7 percent lower than in November 2005, but the value was 5.9 percent higher.
- Eight of 16 regions recorded fewer new dwellings than in November 2005.

- Consents were issued for 179 new apartments, compared with 373 in October and 493 in September.
- The value of consents issued for residential buildings was $667 million, $24 million (3.7 percent) higher than in November 2005.
- The value of consents issued for non-residential buildings was $376 million, $75 million (17 percent) lower than in November 2005.
