
Highlights
For January 2008 compared with January 2007:
- Consents for new dwellings fell by 137 units, to 1,743.
- Consents for new apartments fell by 16 units, to 203.
- Consents for new dwellings fell by 155 units in the North Island and
rose by 18 in the South Island.
- Residential building consent values rose $5 million, to $543 million.
- Non-residential building consent values rose $70 million, to $316 million.
The trends for both the number of new dwellings and the value of residential buildings continue to decline.
