
Highlights
For March 2008 compared with March 2007:
- Consents for new dwellings fell by 702 units, to 1,567.
- Consents for new apartments fell by 140 units, to 50.
- Consents for new dwellings fell by 479 units in the North Island and
by 223 in the South Island.
- Residential building consent values fell $169 million, to $541 million.
- Non-residential building consent values fell $59 million, to $354 million.
The trends for both the number of new dwellings and the value of residential buildings continue to decline.
