Classification and coding process

Classification criteria

The business type is generally based on legal character as established by Act of Parliament, Regulations, Orders–in–Council and/or Court decisions. There are some bodies which don't have a legal character, such as branches of overseas incorporated bodies but which are still regarded as separate business types.
