General electorate boundaries are defined at meshblock level.
The number of general electoral districts, and electoral populations for each electorate is controlled by the criteria specified in the Electoral Act. Within these criteria, when setting the boundaries, the Representation Commission also consider community of interest, facilities of communications, topographical features, and any projected variation in the General electoral population of those districts during their life.
General electoral district is a flat classification with 64 categories.
The full classification is available under the Available files heading above.
